#NationalDoctorsDay

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated to acknowledge the role of doctors in the progress of our nation. Every year, July 1st is celebrated to honour the birth and death anniversary of great physician who was also former CM of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy for his commendable contribution towards the establishment of medical council of India and Indian Medical Association. We celebrate this day as a gratitude to all those doctors who have selflessly helped us in our time of need and tirelessly worked for the health of their patients. It’s a ‘thanksgiving’ for all that they are doing for all of us.

My Pregnancy Story : Thanks to Dr Rama Shrivastava for the best care and advice during my entire pregnancy

Pregnancy was not that easy for me. For some it’s like a cakewalk, for few it’s like walking on eggshells. Truly, it brings innumerable changes in new parents life, especially mother. Typical Indian families flow advices and comments on our decision as soon as pregnancy is announced.

My tolerance level was pretty much low and I didn’t appreciate much advises. Initial stages were tough as there were lot of confusion of what to believe, whom to trust and what to follow. When our caretakers advice it’s human tendency to instinctively follow them irrespective of whether it’s best or not. From my experience, I would just say that there are no hard and fast rules to follow during pregnancy and every individual has their own unique experience.

Whatever we follow one must believe it’s for the best otherwise there’s no point in blindly obeying something. After confusion, worrying, indecisive phase I and my husband decided to follow doctors advise. It was logical as none of us wanted to take unnecessary risks.

My doctor was very sympathetic and understanding and at the same time firm that I had to follow her advise all the time to ensure a full term pregnancy and healthy baby. I once went against her advise and later realised it was a mistake.

Being wheeled into the operation theatre, I was totally scared and anxious. Caretakers wished me the best and gave me moral support. Soon doctor arrived and spoke with me gently and before I knew my dear baby arrived in this beautiful world. I expressed my gratitude to my doctor and in those moments I understood that the outcome of following her advise and instructions was the tiny little creature enclosed in my arms.

Thank you Dear Doctor, whole heartedly for your care, advise, patience, for being firm and keeping an understanding towards me.
