Happiness Lies Within: How to Find True Joy by Being Yourself and Enjoying Life

A hand delicately holding small wildflowers with a blurred green background.

I wonder if ‘Happiness’ can be bought in a shop or in a big mall?

Does it sound weird? Yes. How can anyone run after the market area in search of happiness? Can we search for it inside our hearts or in our minds?

Let us first look into
‘Happiness’

Oh! I am Happiness, gentle and bright,
I bloom in my mother’s eyes at first sight.
When she cradles her infant close to her heart,
I sparkle within, right from the start.
I shine in the giggle of a growing child,
In playful steps, so free and wild,
As they learn, stumble, and rise anew.

Smile

There are many ways to find happiness within yourself.
A gentle smile on your face can light up your inner self and send a good vibe to your near and dear ones, which can make you happy. A smile is infectious, and spreading this brings you inner happiness. Go and try it now. What are you waiting for? I am doing it and finding my inner peace and happiness, which keeps me going at my elderly age.

Yes, ‘happiness lies within you’ if you…

Be Yourself
“Be who you are and say what you feel.”

One gets lost wearing a ‘mask’ and behaves outwardly in a social gathering or even at home. They may not be behaving as they truly are. Why do this and lose your inner happiness?
Be who you are. Express and behave as you are. Simple, kind and loving, and then act on what your inner thoughts say to you.

Do not worry about expressing your thoughts or how you feel.
If you are a straightforward person and talk openly, let it out. Do not think, “What will they feel? Maybe I should speak as they want.” Why?

By doing this, you spoil your inner happiness and convince yourself, “It is okay, at least they are happy.” No one can please everyone by saying words you do not truly feel.
This kills inner happiness in a great way and may even lead to depression.

Yes, many may not like people who speak openly as it may highlight their wrongdoings — but you may earn many well-wishers along the way.

So try to be yourself, pat your back and say, “I am happy.”

Enjoy what you do

This is an important and valuable way to find happiness within yourself.
Any work — whether cooking, household tasks, singing or writing a blog — if you do not enjoy it, you will never find inner happiness in doing it.

‘Oh! It is 6 am, I have to rush to make breakfast.’
If you hurry without enjoying the process and do it just as a duty, the work may not be up to the mark. The tiffin boxes may return untouched, as the food was tasteless.
You didn’t enjoy preparing the dish in the morning.
Then why not enjoy your work, find happiness within, and do your tasks joyfully?

‘Enjoy each day as it comes.’

They say, “All is in the mind.”
Yes, it is true. Take life as it comes and do not have expectations about too many things.

Try to be happy when you get up in the morning.
Pray to God, and take everything in your stride as the day passes.

So chill and enjoy life.
