Summer holidays are a must for children. This magical break from daily and monotonous routine is required to rejuvenate oneself. Moreover, going out on holidays with family creates many beautifulmemories.
A few decades back, the definition of summer vacations for most of us was splashing in the pool, picnics, hanging out with friends, cycling, visiting our grandparent’s home, and endless games. This was the essence for children and elders too.
It would be wrong to say that today in the 21st-century, people are not fond of these things. Each one of us still loves pools and picnics. But now summer holidays for many mean visiting various places and countries to explore, learn and enjoy. Yet can everyone afford to visit luxurious places? No. Right?
The cost of living, especially in cities, has gone up, and once-in-a-year vacations also seem a burden to many families. So either there is no summer vacation as both parents are struggling to make ends meet, or they prefer to go for a mini-vacation to nearby places.
Besides, even if kids are out on holiday with family and friends, they are mostly hooked on mobile phones and tablets, killing the essence of summer holidays. These gadgets keep them occupied, and they take little interest in going around the place.
Parents who spend so much on vacations should ensure and encourage their kids to appreciate and take joy in pure, spotless and pristine nature rather than staying in their rooms or taking selfies.
The older generations should guide and make the younger generations understand that vacations are to refresh themselves and not cling to gadgets all the time.
Moral : Let us retain the changing essence of summer holidays before it vanishes into thin air.
