The Alphonso’s Starry Dreams!

Alphonso Mango story

Long ago, far, far away in a beautiful farm, there lived five different mangoes whose names were Alphonso, Banganapalli, Dasheri, Kesar, and Totapuri. This was the oldest farm in the village, so many of the villagers bought their goodies from this farm. But the specialty of the farm was its mangoes.

By the weekend, all the mangoes except for the Alphonso were gone. Not many people were buying the Alphonso mangoes. One day, the Alphonso mango had had enough, so he asked, “Why are they not buying me?”

“Because they think you’re not sweet,” explained the farmer.

“But I am sweet, I definitely am!” responded the Alphonso mango sadly.

“Well, I think you’re sweet,” said the Banganapalli mango.

“Yeah, we do too,” said all the other mangoes together.

“Don’t worry. They will all love you in the future,” consoled the farmer.

Ten years later…

“Thank you for telling the truth,” said the Alphonso mango proudly.

“You’re welcome!” replied the farmer.

“But I’m still not happy, Farmer,” said the Alphonso mango. “I wanted to be a star, not a king.”

“Well, Alphonso, I cannot change that. It’s what you are supposed to be,” explained the farmer. “The only thing you can do is wish to become a star. You’re a king—it’s way better than a star.”

“I guess so. Anyways, good luck on your big business!” exclaimed the Alphonso mango.

“Thank you,” the farmer responded.

“No, thank you. I would not be here if it wasn’t for you encouraging me to keep going,” said the Alphonso mango gratefully.

“Thank you, Alphonso mango. But I have to go now. I have customers waiting. It’s a big job, you know,” said the farmer.

“Of course. I also must go, as I’m the king,” said the Alphonso mango with a wink.
