One day, a cute little mango named Smilie asked his friends, “In your life, what is the one thing you would wish to do?”
One mango replied that he wanted to become a dancer. Another wished to become a rockstar.
But Smilie exclaimed, “Oh, you guys! I don’t want to know what you want to become. I want to know what you wish.”
Everyone said, “We are all happy and we are the stars of the summer season, what else do we need?”
Smilie replied, “We need to become the stars of the year, not just the stars of the summer. Just imagine—if people love us and use mangoes so much in the summer season, then why can’t we be stars of the whole year? People would make yummy dishes with us. They would offer us to God. People might even decorate temples with us!”
A very elderly mango heard this and said, “My dear, do apples and watermelons grow in the winter? Do apricots grow in the summer?”
Everyone replied, “No, they don’t. Like watermelons, litchis also can’t grow in winter because the weather doesn’t suit them.”
Smilie understood that all fruits can’t grow in all seasons. God has a plan and purpose for everything. He apologized to everyone for being selfish.
