Tears of Pride – When Strength Speaks Through Emotions

Monochrome close-up of a young woman with a thoughtful expression, emphasizing emotions.

To cry is cowardice — that’s what the general belief is. Staying strong and being brave are associated with boldness, without shedding tears! To fall, to get bruised, to get insulted or cornered — everything is linked to getting up, dusting oneself, and moving on with head held high, but strictly without tears.

Another clan believes that females are the weaker sex who give in to sentiments and get emotional even over trivial matters, shedding tears easily. Whereas, men are apparently called stronger humans and are not supposed to break down, even in the most testing life conditions.

Tears are a form of silent communication that deliver emotions strongly, connecting one heart to another. Generally, we cry and shed tears when in pain — externally or internally. But pain, fear, or separation aren’t the only triggers for tears! We get emotional during achievements, wins, celebrations — moments when tears of pride replace words.

A reunion between a couple separated for long, returning home to the warmth of family after a critical surgery, or giving in during an argument to save a friendship — these are moments when love, care, and selflessness replace ego. The mind and body rejoice together, realizing that the self isn’t the prime target, and justified pride takes a step forward — in the form of pure and sacred tears!

Pride is not considered a very positive quality, but when accompanied by tears, the same emotion gains grace and transforms into a better attitude. The perspective changes completely, moving it to a higher plane. Power, domination, status, and wealth often describe pride in a negative essence. But true pride is born from defeating storms of emotions, from winning after relentless toil.

When everything seems a hurdle, and rising above happens after countless struggles — when the road finally ends with a promising light achieved through perseverance — when the trophy received speaks only of hard work — there we see genuine tears of pride. That is the moment when eyes communicate better than our vocal cords.

Human beings are not just bone and flesh but a bundle of emotions. Pride sans arrogance, pride as a symbol of pure accomplishment, is always paired with tears that are precious. Emotions conveyed by the heart and soul — to share happiness — are tears of pride.

It’s never a faked response. The occasion may be small or great — that doesn’t matter. Something insignificant for one may be priceless for another! A new mother after a complicated delivery, a father holding his baby for the first time, an elderly couple finding solace amidst people, the joy of perfecting a new recipe, or winning a simple race — all are moments worthy of those pure, innocent tears of pride.
