When Autism speaks, the voice never comes out muffled. It is clear and ear-piercing.
Yes, my name is Autism. I am different and unique, but not any less than you. I am God’s special child. When will you know and understand this?
By the way, who said I cannot grow and do things that you do. Of course, I can. It’s just that I take a little longer to write, speak, and do other activities. But that happens with you, too. Isn’t it? Are you not different from your sibling even if you are normal? Some of you are fast, while some are slow in doing things. But you learn and cope. Right? Do I ever tease you or treat you differently?
Then why are you being biased? Why this discrimination? You often think I misbehave and get irritated. Please try to understand that I am not a brat. It’s my medical condition that is responsible. You can make your family and friends aware of what my name means, but don’t make me a laughing stock. That hurts me a lot and pulls my confidence down. You can do good causes by building a separate school for me, and my friends where teachers can bestow their time and help shape our careers. We too, wish to become independent when we grow up.
Just be a little patient and give me loads of love. I can do everything if you guide me. I promise you will never feel ashamed and bow your head down. I will work hard and make you feel proud one day.
Till then, please do not judge me; instead, stand by my side and show me the path of hope.
