Fashion trends

Author : Shilpi Roy

2020, was the year that changed the way we perceive things. It transformed our outlook, it made us extra-cautious, careful, and less social. We started residing in seclusion, staying away from hustle-bustle and noisy crowd.

Everything was just antagonistic to basic human nature, we sacrificed our happiness, we lost our loved ones, we were scared, we felt horrified, and our whole life went topsy-turvy. Throughout the ear we had to face the harsh reality that we need to adapt to the ‘new normal’.

We have to rigorously practice the social distancing norms, wash our hands frequently, and sanitize almost everything that comes from outside.

The pandemic has taught us to do everything from home, whether it’s office, school, or birthday party. We have stopped moving out of the confines of our home, as we even order groceries at home through various e-commerce apps.

We purchase using mobile wallets and digital payment methods, we hardly use cash. We Indians have ushered in the era of digital revolution, where husbands have turned into Masterchefs using Youtube videos, wives have mastered the Art of Living, and kids are acing the coding game.

As we spend whole day at home, our fashion preferences have also changed. We love to buy more of comfy loungewear, relaxed palazzos, and chic work-from-home attire. If we wear bright colored clothes, it helps in beating the blues, and makes us more productive. A casual ensemble, whether it’s a subtle cotton shirt or wrap top with linen pants makes you look and feel stylish.

A skater dress in comfy fabric with floral print helps us stay cool in hot summers. A pair of flats and soft bellies are just perfect to go with your outfit. You can try a pair of dangle or simple hoop earrings to accessorize your look.

Fashion trends in pandemic is more about updating your wardrobe but at the same time keeping it minimalistic. You don’t need to overspend on expensive dresses, you can just touch up your face and lips, explore a new hairdo, and you’re almost done. When you’ve continuous zoom calls, a loose flowy attire and fuzzy slippers will keep you calm and composed.

A breezy jumpsuit also helps keep a positive state of mind, when you’re overloaded with work and pandemic stress. Neutrals are your trusted best friend as they never go out of fashion. A white button-down shirt and black leggings are a great fashion inspiration.
