Neru ( Malyalam Movie ) #MovieReview #ViewersPOV

Neru :

What emotional reaction you will expect when we talk about a Rape Victim or a story of rape ? Rage! A common reaction to Rape , right?

And when we talk about the victim we are expected to see her crying, in fear, in self doubt because that’s how we are grown up with but this story of Neru comes up with a new frame of mindset wherein we are fabricated with the current scenario of the educated world.

This is the story of a physically blind girl Sara who strongly stood for herself for her fight with her perpetrator.

She was clear about love and acceptance and knew what consent to sex is. She isn’t the one who is shy or shameful , she is the girl of present era who answers every question regardless of how shamefully it’s asked by the cross lawyer.

A sculpture artist who has power to touch and make the sculptures after even being blind come across many such incidences where her power to know her rapist by merely touching him is considered being characterless or giving her consent. But she is very clear about her instance , where non consensual sex is considered to be rape.

Some of the court proceedings are riveting , like the one where the victim is presented before the court and stands strongly for herself. Some of the scenes seem over stretching but keep the viewers glued. We can also hear the music of Drishyam as a passing reference. The climax is full of emotions and strength where the cross lawyer tries to humiliate her to her best but she is shown fighting against the storm.

Mohanlal as expected is at his best with the best of his performance but as a viewer my heart glued to Sara ( Anaswara Ranjan ) who represents every Rape victim and sets an example for them all to fight for self till the justice is served.

A must watch movie with a smooth flow of the story.

Cast : Mohanlal , Anaswara Ranjan, Santhi Mayadevi, Priyamani, Siddique, Jagadeesh
