Love can happen twice !

Author : Anindita Bhattacharya

Love can happen many times in life. Let me share my own story. I was 17 when I first fell in love. He was my soul mate. He was also 17.

The teenage Love is like a dewdrop on a lotus leaf. It can drop any time and get lost in the flowing stream of life. But somehow we were destined to be bonded together in a strong fevicol bond. In spite of all odds and struggles from both end families,  we managed to get our love granted. After freshly graduating from engineering college we bagged a respectable job and started a new life which the society has labelled “Marriage “.

Now here is the twist, Marriage is more complex than it seems to be.  It has more sacrifices than commitments( from both sides), it has more rituals than fun, it has more problems than solutions,  it has more criticisms than praise.

After 25 years of long relationship I ( or we) feel love may happen again. Wait readers please stop judging a middle aged Indian woman.

Here is the twist , yes love can happen many times but can it not be for the same person . I fell in love with my long lost teenager boyfriend over and over again, may be he is no more a teenager,  may be he is my hubby, my daughter’s father, but he is the man who brings a flower bouquet on every valentine’s day( may be not rose), because he is responsible now says, ” Its too expensive today.”

He is the man who gives me a call asking for a coffee date while returning from office. Yes this is the essence of love.
