Summer has fully arrived, bringing challenges such as sweating and dehydration. Overexposure to the sun can lead to tanned skin, while insufficient sunlight may result in low vitamin D levels in the body. Constantly staying in an air-conditioned room is not feasible and can create additional difficulties. As a result, the body may lose vitality, and the skin can appear dull and shrivelled.

So, what can we do during the summer season to keep our skin healthy and glowing?

Embrace Nature

Wake up early and take a moment to breathe in the fresh air. Go for a morning walk, engage in light exercise, listen to the chirping of birds, and enjoy the sunrise. Leave your makeup and mobile devices at home. You’ll notice a significant difference in just a week once you start this routine. Meditate for half an hour or sit in silence to rejuvenate your mind and body. A new you will shine through.

Don’t Skip Breakfast

Have a light and healthy breakfast before heading out to work. Maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants. Wear loose-fitting, preferably cotton, light-colored clothes, along with sunglasses and hats to shield your skin from sun exposure. Use sunscreen daily and reapply it every four hours if you sweat a lot.

Hydration is Crucial

Drink plenty of fluids, such as lemonade, coconut water, and fresh fruit juices. Aim to consume at least 2–3 litres of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. Use lightweight hydrating products like serums or gel-based moisturisers. Carry a hydrating mist to refresh and rehydrate your skin throughout the day. Wash your face with cold water as often as possible. Choose a light, herbal cleanser to remove excess sweat and oil without stripping your skin’s natural moisture.

Exfoliate your skin regularly using a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin cells. This helps achieve a healthy glow and prevents clogged pores. Opt for light makeup like BB creams and tinted moisturisers instead of heavier foundations. Avoid heavy makeup during uncomfortable summer weather.

Diet and Wellness

Consume a diet rich in fruits and vegetables for healthy skin. A balanced diet with small meals is key to maintaining a healthy body. Avoid fried, spicy, and junk food in hot weather. Antioxidants help protect your skin from damage caused by pollution. Aim for 7–8 hours of undisturbed sleep for optimal body and skin health. Avoid late nights and alcohol for your overall wellness. Stress can impact skin health, so find ways to relieve it through meditation, managing mood swings, and avoiding anger.

If you sweat a lot, wash your face and body after sweating to prevent clogged pores and irritation. Always use cold or lukewarm water to avoid stripping your skin of natural oils. A cooling face mask with ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber, or yoghurt can soothe and hydrate your skin. Use lip balm and sunglasses to protect delicate areas.

A natural and healthy body is a great virtue. Take care of your health and cherish your body. By incorporating these habits, your skin will become healthy, radiant, and glowing this summer.
