While thinking about this blog, it reminded me of a date which I planned during lockdown when hotels or theatres were shut & we spent quality time at home.
It was my husband’s birthday & I wanted to make it exciting since he was working day & night for hospitals.
My husband has a surgical business & no staff was available due to the lockdown crisis. Providing basic necessities to his client hospitals was his responsibility. He personally dropped parcels to hospitals . With keeping no profit in hand, he served hospitals & it made me proud.
So making his day special was all the need of my day.
I planned a surprise movie date at home with the help of my son ,my laptop & a beautiful setup.
We created a tent on the bed with white sheets reaching the fan.
Covered the tent with fairy lights, enhancing the look & make it look more dreamy. Set up a study table with laptop & Flowers.
“ Chalo setup tho ho Gaya, what about food?” inquired my son.
The cake was already baked by me.
He promptly said popcorn & Coke but somewhere we missed samosas.
Then what next?
I headed straight to the kitchen to make some with his favourite green chutney.
The time was running short as it was already dark & I wasn’t ready. I finished my chores & wore the navy blue pleated dress that he gifted me.
I was thanking God that everything is ready in time. The time which was running since morning has now seem to halt for me. The wait was getting longer .
Finally at 9.30pm, the door bell rang, we put on music & yellow lights.
The moment he looked at the setup, he frowned & said “ I am sorry, too tired to watch a movie, let’s just cut the cake & eat”
I patiently replied, “Ok, no problem! Let’s cut the cake .”
After cake cutting he politely said, “Can you please remove this tent? I won’t be able to sleep “
I was like, “Oh yes, why not”
Somewhere I wished to turn this not any more romantic date into a horror movie by dropping all tents on his head & letting him scream to ask for help.
While he snored sleeping at one edge of the bed, I kept tossing like an angry bird to attack him the next morning .
And I am sure you all must be guessing right about his next morning.
