Monsoon Recipes : Home-baked Bread

Recipe by : Kinjal Jain

Monsoon also brings along Chaturmas.

This chaturmasya period begins in the month of Ashadha(June-July).

The period of chaturmas in Sanskrit means 4 months.

During this period, Jain followers have several fasting, listening to discourses about ‘karmas’ ( destiny) & engaging in discussions about ‘Ahimsa’( non-violence).

I being a Jain, I follow chaturmas.

We do not eat Bread, pao, Maida or any outside-cooked food. We prepare everything at home even paneer.

So this monsoon I tried this bread recipe & it’s a healthy version.

We are not using any kind of flour or yeast here.

Can be easily prepared by any of us even if you follow or do not follow chaturmas .
